Goose Fair – Nottingham’s Legendary Fair for Over 100 years!

By | Blog | No Comments

Goose Fair is an annual fair that takes place in Nottingham. It is one of the oldest and largest travelling fairs in Europe, with history of 700 years. The fair traditionally takes place during the first week of October and attracts visitors from all over the UK.

The name “Goose Fair” comes from the fact that, in the past, farmers would bring their geese to the fair to sell. While the selling of geese is no longer a part of the fair, there are still many traditional rides and attractions that have been enjoyed for generations. Some of the most popular rides include the Ferris wheel, the carousel, and the waltzers.

Aside from the rides, Goose Fair also has a wide range of food stalls and games. Visitors can enjoy traditional fair food such as candy floss, toffee apples, and hot dogs. There are also many games to play, such as hook-a-duck and tin can alley.

In recent years, Goose Fair has become a significant event for the city of Nottingham. It is a time when people from all backgrounds come together to enjoy the rides, food, and entertainment on offer, and is a great way to celebrate the rich history and culture of the area.

Whilst we are on the topic of Nottingham. Ideal cleaning are one of many companies to be able to say that they have witnessed 75 Goose Fairs and have seen them change and evolve

So whether you need regular maintenance cleaning, deep cleaning, or specialised services like carpet or window cleaning or even FM services you can say goodbye to dust and dirt and hello to a sparkling clean space with the ideal cleaning services in Nottingham!

How long will it take to clean…

By | Blog | No Comments

Have you ever wandered how long it will take to clean random architecture

Let’s begin with the Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China was built as a military defensive line to defend the invasions from some northern nomadic nations.

The total length of all sections of the Great Wall of China ever built adds up to about 21,196 kilometres (13,171 miles) which means it would take 15 mins to drive from one end to the other and if you were ever feeling adventurous and wanted to walk it would take you 18 months.

How long will it take to clean The Great Wall of China

If we were to clean The Great Wall of China, it would take around 100 people and would approximately take 52 years (FIGURES NOT EXACT)

Let’s have a look at the Shard in London.

The Shard, also referred to as the Shard London Bridge and formerly London Bridge Tower, is a 72-storey skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in Southwark, London,

It has approximately 11,000 glass panels which is the equivalent of eight football pitches and as you can imagine it would take days and days to clean.

So how long will it take to clean The Shard??

It would take a team of cleaners around three months to complete the entire glass façade. Once they’ve finished, they start all over again so that the iconic London skyscraper gets four cleans a year.

Let’s look at The Big Ben

Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the Great Clock of Westminster at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, England and the name is frequently extended to refer also to the clock and the clock tower.

The Houses of Parliament clock (nicknamed Big Ben) was built in 1859. Each clock face is made up of 312 pieces of opal glass, which means that when it’s looked at it must be treated carefully.

How long will it take to clean Big Ben??

It takes a week to complete the cleaning so long as the weather stays fine.

Finally, we can look at Office Cleaning something Ideal specialise in

When cleaning an office space, the time it takes to clean the space can really depends on the type of office it is.

For example, a 3-story building could take a couple of hours whereas a building of just 2 offices could take around 30-60 mins.

How long will it take to clean a building of offices??

Office cleaning can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours depending on the size and complexity of the job. If the cleaning, you are wanting is Commercial usually the cleaners will provide an estimate of the time and the price before starting their work.

Ideal’s Journey To Become Environmentally Friendly

By | Blog | No Comments

Ideal Services Group take environmental responsibilities very seriously and our Environmental Management System is accredited to ISO 14001:2015.

The aim for the reduction of our environmental impact is to encourage our customers to use eco-friendly chemicals and use eco-friendly procedures to prevent unnecessary waste.

Reducing Emissions –

As individual vehicles in our fleet come due for replacement, we are transitioning to all electric vehicles where possible.

The company fleet currently boasts 6 EV’s and a large number of hybrids vehicles. Where older commercial vehicles are still in use these meet Euro 6 Emission Standards.

These also will then be replaced by electric vehicles.

What will ideal do?

  1. We are currently in the process of trying to get all of our staff trained on TimeGate.
  2. We will try to use less paper within the business
  3. We will eventually switch all of our company vehicles to electric.
  4. We will continue to recycle and reuse wherever possible.

Plus, many more. For more information check out our Environment Policy.

With that being said, when we’re cleaning at your premises you can be rest assured that we’re using a range of cleaning materials and chemicals balanced for effective cleaning and environmental friendliness.

All the paper products (from Toilet Rolls to Hand towels and Centrefeed Rolls) we use or supply to customers are made from 100% Recycled fibre and are FSC Certified. As well as this, all our refuse sacks are a made with a minimum of 98%recycled LDPE.

Who is Amanda Kiddy?

Amanda is a MASSIVE part of the ideal community here at Nottingham. Amanda has been with Ideal for a whopping 25 years and is now part of the Ideal Furniture.

Amanda Joined Ideal

On the 5th of October 1998 Amanda joined ideal as a cleaner for the head office.

Her first day at ideal was very nerve racking, she didn’t want to speak to anyone as she was very shy. She was that shy she would always try to hideaway from people.

Amanda was that reserved and quiet that 8 months into the job the area supervisor that hired her said that he didn’t expect her to last a week. 25 years later Amanda is still working at Ideal in the same job she started in 25 years ago. Amanda now cleans for the boss Dennis Dring and Jenny at their house.

Amanda’s time at Ideal

Amanda says she loves cleaning at Dennis and Jenny’s house because they don’t treat her as staff but as family!

Amanda has been with ideal through a lot of changes such as seeing the office expand and change, the departments getting bigger and staff expanding!

Changes Amanda’s Seen

The biggest change Amanda said that she has seen is the old staff leaving and new staff coming. Amanda says that she remembers Chris and Adam Dring being little and now feels proud to see them both part of the management board.

Amanda feels very lucky to have worked with some amazing people that are now no longer here with us today such as Richard Taylor, Jenny Taylor and of course David Dring who she had an excellent relationship with!

Ideal are very lucky to have gained someone like Amanda. Amanda is not the same person she was when she walked into the ideal doors for the first time. Being at Ideal has given her a lot of confidence that she never thought she would ever get.

Ideal have one thing to say to Amanda and that is…

7 Days Of Threads

By | Blog | No Comments

Instagram’s Threads is a text-based conversation app that launched on July 5, 2023. At first glance, the Threads experience is a lot like Twitter. Both platforms offer a feed of text-based posts that allow users to follow what’s going on in the world and start their own conversations.

With up to 500 characters per thread and the ability to add photos, videos, and links, Threads is a great way to communicate with your network and the world at large.

For more information click here

Ideals strategy for using Threads is:

By using threads Ideal’s strategy is to try spread positivity through comments and threads of our own to remind our staff and our followers about their self-worth and importance to us. We’d also like to remind our staff to make sure that they work with a friendly mentality so that they can come to work and get their jobs done in a positive mindset.

One of our strategies that we achieved was that we managed to get our sales department on LinkedIn to help achieve new leads.

Finally, we would use it to comment on other people’s threads so that we can help build a following.

How it will help us as a cleaning company:

A few ways that this would help us as a cleaning company is by allowing us to put our cleaning tips on there. Firstly, because it will allow us to showcase our services. Not only will it allow us to showcase our services but it will help us with building a following and help boost our business.

Finally, the big questions… A question that is on everyone’s mind!

Will it be bigger than twitter?

Threads comes with big potential, thanks to its polished tech, built-in user base, and a reputation for better moderation that’s likely to please big-money advertisers.

So, who knows. Maybe in a few years Elon could make Threads the new Twitter.

Joe wright from Wright Cut Barbers alongside Will kindly came to assist Adam Ramsdale, Lucy bird, Paul and his wife Michelle who all took the plunge and decided that they wanted to help raise some money for NHC by taking part in the head shave.

With over 282 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and services. We were able to identify the perfect ideas our business needs.”

There were 4 different shows at the exhibition:

IFSEC FIREX HEALTH AND SAFETY EXPO & FACILITES SHOW

We chatted to numerous companies from different shows a few of them being:

Defibuk (Health and safety): Speaking to Defibuk allowed us to find out interesting facts and even consider purchasing a defibrillator for the company.

Trackersack (facilities show): Trackersack is a company that uses a simple app-based system and a coded waste sack or bin to track waste from A to B.

Hyde Park Environmental – Hyde Park Environmental is the leading expert in the industry for spill control and containment products.

We also met up with our friends from TEAM Software when we popped next door to see the IFSEC security show, where they were showcasing their Time and Attendance system.

By | Blog, Ideal Life | 2 Comments

Ideal was founded in 1946 8 years before Queen Elizabeth’s coronation by George Newell as a chimney sweeping company the first to utilise vacuums for such operations. The company prospered and developed the Brush-Vac system into the “Movac” dry waste extraction system.

We remain a family-owned business today, with the fourth generation on board. We operate and conduct our business in an ethical and transparent way and focus on the support and development of our staff.

Ideal’s approach is to ensure we manage the required services for and on behalf of our clients, providing value for money and improved services.

In the lead to the king’s coronation this weekend, here are some interesting facts about Ideal:

🔴 His Majesty was born on the 14th of November 1948 which was also the year that Ideal Cleaning Services celebrated their 2nd birthday.

⚪ In 1951 before Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to throne. Ideal Cleaning Services became incorporated from Ideal Chimney Sweeping to Ideal Cleaning Services LTD

🔵 The year 1969 saw the investiture of Charles as the Prince of Wales and the appointment of Dennis Dring to Managing Director of Ideal Cleaning Services Limited.

🔴 Ideal celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2011 the same year that Charles celebrated the marriage of his first son Prince William.

🔵 Not only does His Majesty take on the throne in May, Ideal also had a cause to celebrate as the company turned 77!

Now under the stewardship of Managing Director Christopher Dring, Ideal’s story continues.

Ideal is adopting new technologies, such as digital Time and Attendance and Work Scheduling systems and new robotic cleaning equipment, to make our service ever more efficient and cost effective.

The sales and marketing team have been expanded and the programme for growth, both in terms of new and organic sales, as well as a planned expansion of services is progressing well.

Our aim is to deliver continually improving levels of service for our clients and to provide a bright future for the company and our staff.

We look forward to celebrating the next mile stone.
